Museo Memorial de la Resistencia
The Museo Memorial de la Resistencia is a giant step back into the dark, grim days of the Dominican Republic under former dictator Rafael Leónidas Trujillo. The collection is an impressive, collaborative effort of historians and the relatives of victims of the Trujillo dictatorship, with the aim of preventing history from repeating itself. The museum, located in the Colonial City, includes moving multimedia presentations, featuring Dominican heroes who fought against oppression, as well as dark moments such as the Haitian genocide of 1937, and the murder of the Mirabal Sisters in 1960.
