Oleg Tselkov was born 15 July 1934 in the outer reaches of Moscow in USSR, now Russia. In 1977, Tselkov left the USSR for Paris, where he has lived and worked till 11 June 2021.
Oleg Tselkov lived in France, where he has continued to produce works in the same style, featuring the same haunting faces.
The artist's works are in the collections of many museums in Russia, Europe and America such as State Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow, The State Hermitage Museum, St. Petersburg, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Zimmerli Museum, USA and thers. The works are also in private collections of the leading collectors of the world.
Oleg Tselkov's work has been offered at auction multiple times, with realized prices ranging from 21900 USD to 450,000 USD, depending on the size and medium of the artwork. Since 2004 the record price for this artist at auction is $354,178 USD for four-headed man with nail, sold at Sotheby's London in 2008. The record price for this artist at private sale for very rare artworks ranging from 300.000 USD to $550,000 USD.
In 2018 at Christie's auction, the painting "Group Portrait with Watermelon" oil on canvas laid down on panel, 136 x 160 cm. (53 1⁄2 x 63 in.), sold for £187,500, as noted in a statement from the stock house, which was a record for works from the 1960s.
Oleg Tselkov's retrospective, which is currently under preparation by a famous collector from England, is planned for 2022 in MMOMA.
In September, 2021 solo exhibition " I'M NOT FROM HERE, I'M A STRANGER" took place in Multimedia Art Museum Moscow, Russia.
