The bases, which had important functions in the defense of the city against the invasion of the Russian armies in the 19th century, were used for the repelling of the Russian attack in 1828, the victory of Kars in 1855, and for the defense during the Ottoman-Russian War of 1877-1878.
Bloody Bastion building in 1803, Sultan III. It is one of our bases built under the name of "New Basia" during the Selim Period. In 1828, during the attacks of the Russians against Kars, during the night raid, the name of this bastion was mentioned in the literature as Bloody Bastion as all the soldiers in the bastion were martyred.
