El Fosil Museum
The "Museo el Fósil" is a community museum that exhibits in situ the HOLOTYPE fossil specimen "KRONOSAURUS BOYACENSIS" described by OLIVER HAMPE in 1992, this animal, a PLIOSAUROIDAE from the Early Cretaceous period, with 115 million years old, was a Large predatory marine reptile, thick and short neck, four powerful fins, short and muscular tail, breathed through lungs and gave light to the young directly in the water. We also exhibited the HOLOTYPE "PADILLASAURUS LEIVANENSIS" (Parra et. Al., 2015) a BRACHIOSAURIDAE, originating from the Early Cretaceous period, with 130 million years old, it is a DINOSAURIA of great size, with more than 12 mt high and 17 m long, one of a kind. Our museum also exhibits a beautiful head of KRONOSAURUS, as well as an interesting limb of another KRONOSAURUS, as well as vertebrae of this animal, and fragments of limbs and the snout of this powerful marine reptile.
