The Museum of Sacred Art
The Museum of Sacred Art was founded in 1968 as a museum of the Cathedral Church. Since 2001 it has a new headquarters and belongs to the Archdiocese of Tucumán.
The pieces on display reflect the history and art of the Catholic Church and Tucuman society from the 17th century to the present day, representing mostly the fusion of two cultures: Spanish and indigenous. The objective of its creation was to rescue the artistic pieces from different churches and chapels that with the Second Vatican Council were left in disuse, to preserve them and make them known to future generations.
